JoeBen Bevirt — Chair

JoeBen Bevirt is a passionate engineer with an unrelenting entrepreneurial drive. After building two highly successful companies in the past decade, he is focusing his creative business acumen to launch two additional companies, Joby Energy and Joby Aviation.

JoeBen founded Joby Energy Inc. in 2008 to develop airborne wind turbines to harness the power of high-altitude winds. This ground-breaking technology could revolutionize the renewable energy industry and help alleviate the global energy and climate crises.

Pierre Rivard — CFO

Pierre Rivard has 25 years’ experience in business and technology, including business-launch & venture-growth, finance, business development, operations, human resources, research, product development, and organizational change.

Prior to leading MAGENN, Mr. Rivard launched, grew and successfully exited from two other start-ups that he co-founded, one of which listed on the NASDAQ. Both companies are still in operation today, 25 years and 12 years after their inception. He holds 7 patents.

Len Shepard

Len Shepard is the CEO of Sky WindPower having led the company since April 2008. Sky WindPower is building prototype Flying Electric Generators (rotorcraft) to demonstrate that wind alone can simultaneously hold a rotorcraft aloft at thousands of feet above the earth's surface and cause the rotorcraft to generate electricity to be returned to ground systems via a tether.

Sky WindPower is the latest of small companies led by Len. He also has over 20 years experience in senior management roles across the medical billing service industry. Len authored one of the first widely used freeware offerings for project management. Len holds a B.S. in Agricultural Business Management and a M.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of California, Davis.

Corwin Hardham, Ph.D.

Corwin Hardham has co-founded several companies including Squid-Labs, Potenco, Instructables and WakeKite. His focus is in mechanical design and controls as applied to renewable energy systems, and he holds several patents within these areas. Corwin completed his doctorate at Stanford University developing active hydraulic platforms to improve gravitational-wave detection. His appreciation for design stems from a history of evolving equipment for competition in windsurfing and kite-boarding. At Makani Power, he remains true to his passion for the wind.

Roger Cutler — Executive Director & Board Secretary

Roger Cutler's history of pioneering and innovations began with his participation in the opening of an interdisciplinary college (Evergreen Valley). Apple Computer hired Roger in 1978 to win the Education market for Apple. He held many management positions within Apple, culminating with the successful launch of the Macintosh to the General European Area.

After leaving Apple in 1987, Roger formed The Consultant Alliance, providing strategic marketing and organizational development to businesses, hospitals and government agencies. He was the first CEO of a market-leading software company. His passion is building strong, mission-driven organizations through the development of talented and motivated staff. Roger never met a challenge he didn’t love to conquer.
